Publisher Debbey Wilson started Natural Awakenings Tampa Bay nearly a decade ago, taking another major step in her own quest for a health wise, socially and environmentally sensitive lifestyle. Her early career included 15 years as a highly regarded computer network engineer. The harmonious nature of the art of Feng Shui drew her to study with Professor Lin Yun of the Yun Lin Temple, and later to fulfilling work as a Feng Shui consultant. Her pursuit of understanding in the field of natural health has since grown by leaps and bounds.

Wilson's passion for the field was first sparked by health problems that arose in her early 20s. At that time, public awareness of the promising potential of the natural health movement was not widespread. People who frequented health food stores, took vitamins and otherwise sought holistic approaches to well being were widely dismissed as merely "health nuts."

Early on, Wilson began to research natural health treatments available in terms of the "chronic fatigue syndrome" she was working so hard to shake. She began reading books on natural approaches to the symptoms she was experiencing, talking to folks in local health food stores. Seeking out natural health care practitioners and centers, looking for answers, Wilson came upon an environmental allergist she fully trusted. When she embarked on his prescribed regimen of detoxification, her understanding really clicked in. It made a profound difference in her life, in her focus -- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Moving to the Tampa Bay area a decade ago, Wilson soon connected with the grassroots natural healing community. Knowing full well the importance, and real promise of the natural health movement, she also recognizes the value in communicating and spreading the news and views of this path toward holistic wellness. She launched NA Tampa Bay in 2000 and her passion continues to this day, unabated.

"I'm involved in a business and lifestyle that pleases me no end," she explained. "This magazine provides cutting-edge information on natural health, nutrition, fitness, pet care, green living, and products and services that support a healthy lifestyle and holistic wellness. It's about ecologically and socially responsible behavior – individually and collectively. Who could ask for more?"
