MELINDA’S INVESTMENT IN HOLISTIC PRIMARY CARE:
The concept of holistic, or whole-body health, is not a new one. Chinese physicians have been practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine for almost 5000 years. Homeopathic treatment originated in Germany during the late 1700’s. It became the standard for western medical care by the mid 1800’s. Rather than focusing on isolated symptoms, these modalities take into account the whole person, body, mind, and spirit. The goal of restoring whole-body health relies on the belief that each individual has within them the intelligence and ability to heal. The physician assists in this process by stimulating the body’s natural healing power. Physician and patient work together to explore factors like lifestyle, mental outlook and emotional state and how they might contribute to the patient’s physical wellbeing. Unique to Melinda’s approach is the amount of time she takes with each patient in order to achieve this goal. Pathological signs and symptoms resolve naturally, of their own accord during this process. Melinda’s treatments are gentle, safe and without side effects, and can be used, as needed, in combination with western medical protocols and surgical procedures.
Food therapy is an additional key to recovering a balanced and healthy body environment. As such, Melinda partners with each patient to create a simple dietary plan without sacrificing mealtime pleasure. She specializes in ancient Chinese soup recipes for specific ailments such as arthritis, osteoporosis, weight issues and women’s’ gynecological problems, offering seminars on these topics frequently throughout the year.
It takes time for the body’s innate intelligence to remember how to maintain new coping strategies. Patients usually notice a significant improvement in their chief complaint and their sense of wellbeing after three treatments. Most patients continue care for longer periods of time based on their individual healthcare goals. Each visit builds upon the previous ones to strengthen all systems and maintain a high quality of life.
