SHEILA G. DEAN, MS, RD, LD/N, CDE is a registered and licensed dietitian,
certified diabetes educator and exercise physiologist. She received her
undergraduate training through Rutgers University, completed her internship and
graduate training with University of Rhode Island and Brown University
teaching hospitals and received her post graduate training in advanced functional
medicine and clinical nutrition.
She later went to work with the Duke University
Medical Center's Endocrinology and Metabolism Disorders Clinic and the Joslin
Center for Diabetes. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in
nutritional genomics (genes) through the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey.
An educator at heart, Sheila has taught Human Nutrition for nursing students at St. Petersburg College and the University of Tampa. She's lectured
groups from preschool age to the elderly, authored book reviews and articles
regularly for The St. Petersburg Times, Ms. Fitness Magazine, the Ironmanlive.com website and frequently appears on WTSP-CBS-News Channel 10 and WFLA-NBC-News Channel 8 for interviews.
Shiela has previously served as the consulting
sports nutritionist for the Philadelphia Phillies and as media spokesperson for the
Ironman Institute.
